Supernatural Horror Comic Series
Project: Six-Issue Comic Series
The Challenge
This six-issue supernatural horror series follows two detectives investigating a string of mysterious murders in the city of Charleston.
Beyond illustrating the story itself, the project required the city to become an essential part of the narrative. The writer wanted Charleston to feel like another protagonist—its streets, architecture and landmarks had to reinforce the atmosphere while remaining instantly recognizable to readers familiar with the city.

The Solution
Santaplix was responsible for the interior artwork, including penciling, inking and lettering for all six 24-page issues. In addition, the studio created the main covers, variant covers and character reference sheets for the principal cast.
To faithfully capture the setting, extensive visual research was carried out using the reference material provided by the writer together with detailed exploration of Charleston through Google Street View and other photographic resources.
From hospitals and churches to public parks, local restaurants and the city’s distinctive historic architecture, every environment was carefully recreated to preserve the character and identity of the real locations while supporting the story’s supernatural atmosphere.

The Result
The final series combines horror storytelling with an authentic sense of place, allowing Charleston to become an active narrative element rather than a simple backdrop.
By balancing faithful architectural references with cinematic composition and sequential storytelling, Santaplix helped create a believable world where readers could fully immerse themselves in the investigation while recognizing the unique identity of the city itself.
